The safflower seeds we sell are from Kazakhstan. Due to the isolated location, the vastness of the area and the low fertility of the soil Safflower usually grows in large amounts as a wild plant. Because of the strong taproot, the plant is able to grow well in dry climates. Hybrid varieties, fertilizers or pesticides will not be used. The majority of the safflower grows in the mountains, away from the pollution. Therefore, the Safflower products from Kazakhstan are 100% natural and they retain the natural aroma and taste.
Traditionally safflower was grown for its yellow and red dye from the flowers (petals). Nowadays safflower is mostly used for their seeds, each flower delivers between 15 and 20. The majority of the seeds is used for bird food. The seeds are of good quality, have a beautiful white color and free of insects. Furthermore, the safflower seeds can also be used for the extraction of safflower oil.
